Taught by adalisa Mengini
05.09.-07.09.2025

"The Body Speaks Before We Understand" with @menghiniadalisa 🎯✨
_
For the first time, we are thrilled to invite you to this unique gathering of sensing and moving, exploring the subtle intelligence of the body in motion.
“The body knows before we understand” taught by Adalisa Menghini
This workshop opens a space to rediscover the body as a source of presence, intuition, and expression.
Across three days, we will dive into a multidimensional movement practice that interweaves somatic awareness, improvisation, composition, and relational movement. Inspired by Feldenkrais, neurophysiology, and the poetic depth of embodied listening, this process invites you to move with care, with curiosity, and with clarity.
Whether you are an experienced mover or new to somatic exploration – this workshop welcomes anyone with a deep curiosity for movement, connection, and embodied intelligence.
📅 Dates: September 05.-07., 2025
📍 Location: Movement Practice© - Movement Schule Hamburg (Paulinenallee 28, 20259 Hamburg)

"The Body Knows Before We Understand"
Three Days of Listening, Sensing, Moving
- a workshop for dancers, movers, performers and curious bodies -

_
"A body is more than form.
It is memory, rhythm, attention.
It listens before it speaks.
It knows before it understands.
This workshop is an invitation —
to return to the body as source,
as question, as language.
Over three days, we will move through landscapes of sensation and relation.
We will draw from Feldenkrais, neurophysiology, improvisation, contact, and composition —
as doorways into presence, perception, and poetic action.
We will listen — to weight, to breath, to gravity, to one another.
We will move — with curiosity, with precision, with care.
We will compose — from what we find, from what finds us.
A space for shared practice, for exploration, for emergence.
A space to be moved, to meet yourself, and to meet others.
A space to grow something real through the body.
Open to dancers, performers, and all those drawn to the intelligence of movement.
Experience is welcome, and so is not knowing.
You are welcome."

Adalisa Menghini is a multidisciplinary artist with over forty years of international experience in dance, performance, and somatic education. She studied at the School for New Dance Development (SNDO) in Amsterdam, trained in embryology with Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, and is a certified Feldenkrais practitioner. She also holds a Master’s degree in Neurophysiological Psychology, integrating scientific knowledge with body-based, experiential practices.
Her artistic work spans improvisation, choreography, and somatic research, with a strong commitment to inclusive, intergenerational, and socially engaged approaches. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with renowned artists such as Dieter Heitkamp, Nita Little, Keith Hennessy, Kirstie Simson, LaborGras, Tino Sehgal, and Sasha Waltz.
In parallel, she has developed her own pieces involving both professional and non-professional participants, including children and elderly people, with a focus on accessibility, presence, and collective creation.
She has been involved in several long-term artistic collaborations, including with the now-closed collective Teatro Instabile Berlin, contributing to projects that combined artistic research and community-based performance. Her choreographic work has twice been awarded for best direction and choreography in the context of Giocabriga, a genre of popular theatre in Italy.
In collaboration with K. Wickenhäuser, Adalisa has created museum-based performances with school children at Berliner institutions such as Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlinische Galerie, and Museum für Kommunikation. These educational art projects were honored twice with the “Kinder zum Olymp” award.
Adalisa is a regular faculty member at Tanzfabrik Berlin, where she has been teaching for many years, and is also a lecturer in both the Bachelor and Master programs in Theatre Pedagogy at the University of the Arts (UdK) Berlin. She regularly leads international workshops in contact improvisation and composition.
She is a faculty member of C.A.R.E. (Creativity–Attachment–Resilience–Education), a somatic training program based at the Somatische Akademie Berlin, which combines movement, neuroscience, and creative processes to support personal and professional development.
In 2025, Adalisa was invited to teach at the ISPSO Annual Meeting (International Society for the Psychoanalytic Study of Organizations) in Amsterdam, bringing her somatic movement approach into dialogue with organizational and psychoanalytic thinking.

"Our approach to acrobatics has developed from the urge to look for freedom in movement. It led us to the wonderful paradox between meditation and acrobatics, the attempt to find tranquility in the chaos, to understand whether it is possible to create a practice that is inspired by the eye of the storm. The main goal is to find a movement quality that supports simple actions like walking and running, as well as acrobatic feats without a difference in effort, mental fatigue or structural tension. To do this, we will search for high levels of awareness and precision so the body can react quickly to the changes in skeletal stress, and to maintain flow without unnecessary distractions. In classical acrobatic disciplines – Preparation, Climax and Landing are being treated as completely different aspects while usually one is more important than the other. In "Zen Acrobatics" the practitioner aspires to transform all 3 states into one motion that can ultimately connect to any other type of movement.
Examples for inputs that are used in this learning process are: Sounds of take-offs and landings, alignment in relation to the space, 'Eye -Focus', application of forces, integration of breath, momentum and more."
